Neighbors and business owners are invited to a pre-app lication meeting about the redevelopment of the historic El Rey Theater.\n
Developer and owner Optimal Partners and project sponsor Goldman Ar chitects will host the meeting on Wednesday June 7\, in the Ingleside Libr ary community room. It will be simulcast through Zoom.
\nThe pre-app lication meeting is part of the San Francisco Planning Department’s proced ures prior to filing a full project application.

At the pre-application meeting\, neighbors and the surrounding community can rev iew the project proposal for the site\, which includes 42 residential unit s on the adjacent rear parking lots. Four of the 42 units are proposed for construction above the existing commercial wings\, one of which housed th e first Gap location.
\nNeighbors will have an opportunity to ask qu estions of the project sponsor as well as raise any concerns they may have with the proposed plans.
\nThe theatre was designed by Timothy Pflu eger\, who also designed several well-known buildings and theaters in San Francisco\, including the Castro Theatre.
\nThe 1931-built theatre r ecently sustained some damage during the storms in January\, causing piece s of plaster from the facade to fall to the sidewalk. The Ingleside Light reported earlier this month that repair work was underway.
