The message w ill note: “This is an earthquake drill. Right now\, DROP\, COVER\, AND HOLD ON.”
\n

Afterwards\, you will react and practice doing the following:

\n
\n
DROP to the floor. During a large earthquake\, the ground mi ght jerk strongly and kno ck you down.
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
Take COVER under something sturdy\, to protect yourself f rom objects that might be thrown across the room.
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
HOLD ON to your shelter until the shaking s tops.
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
If you can’t get under something\, bend over and protect your head and neck with your a rms.
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
Now look around. What objects might fall or be thrown a t you\, that you should secure in place before a real earthquake?\n

BE CAREFUL: This is about practicing safety\, safely – not about being fast
\n
\n
\n
\n
After 60 seconds\, a second RAVE message will be sent and will note: “This drill is over. Thank you for tak ing part in the Great ShakeOut!”

We will not use audible fi re alarms or sirens of any kind.

We will no t use portable P/A systems
\n
We will not use air raid systems
\n
We will not use SF Fire or SF Police Departments during this drill
\n
We will only use the RAVE Mass Notification system to begin and end the D RILL
\n
