 s and minds\, and our community is still reeling with grief and frustratio

 an opportunity to learn more about what the agency is doing to make our st
 reets safer and voice concerns at the SFMTA Board of Directors meeting. <b
 >Join us to make your voice heard!</b></p>\n<p>The SFMTA directors will re
 ceive the first quarter of 2026 summarizing the work of the agency’s Stree
 ts Division. While the staff presentation describes the progress being mad
 e\, we plan to show up at the meeting to say that work must continue to ac
 celerate\, and must benefit people who bike and roll. The quarterly street
 s update is the last item on the agenda and we expect it to be heard after

 <p class='yiv8412115179c19-body-lg'>Our three high-level takeaways from th
 e presentation are the following:</p>\n<ol>\n<li class='yiv8412115179c19-b
 ody-lg'><b>City leadership must take the number of people who bike and rol
 l in SF seriously.</b> Data from Bay Wheels shows that 2025’s bikeshare us
 age accounts for 3.9 million trips\, while SFMTA’s bike counters show near
 ly a million fewer bike trips. This indicates that the SFMTA’s bike counte
 rs are severely undercounting bike trips. If\, for every bike share trip\,
  there are two other trips on personal bikes or scooters\, SF had nearly 1
 2 million bike trips in 2025.</li>\n<li class='yiv8412115179c19-body-lg'><
 b>When MTA staff are directed to do something\, they follow through.</b> S
 o much work was accomplished between October and December 2025 (see slide 
 7 in the presentation). We need that kind of urgency to make our streets s
 afer for all users of the road and keep up with the growing number of trip
 s using sustainable transportation.</li>\n<li class='yiv8412115179c19-body
 -lg'><b>The Biking and Rolling plan needs to be implemented.</b> It must g
 uide the MTA’s workplan to accomplish the goals in the Mayor’s Street Safe
 ty Initiative\, starting with slow school zones around every SFUSD school 
 and closing the gaps along crosstown bicycle routes.</li>\n</ol>\n</td>\n<
