DESCRIPTION:The crowded California gubernatorial primary is approaching in
just 2 weeks on Tuesday\, June 2nd!\nNurses are supporting Tom Steyer for
Governor\, fueled by his unequivocal support for a national and state sing
le-payer health care system\, as well as his commitment to ending corporat
e control over politics and working people’s lives\, taxing billionaires a
nd corporations\, and protecting our democracy.\nWill you help us get out
the vote in these final days for a health care champion by signing up to m
ake calls as part of our Nurses for Tom Steyer Phone Bank from 5 – 7 PM in
Oakland on Wednesday\, May 27th?\nRight now\, tens of millions of ballots
are still with California voters. As of last week\, only 2 percent of mai
l-in ballots have been submitted.1 The low return rate suggests that most
voters are still undecided and waiting to see how polls shake out.\nMeanwh
ile\, corporate interests are spending big against Steyer to the tune of $
24.5 million.2 Why? Because corporations are terrified of being held accou
ntable by his administration.\nAnd recently\, it was reported that Steyer’
s opponent\, Xavier Becerra\, stated behind closed doors to the California
Medical Association (CMA) that now was not the time for a single-payer sy
stem like CalCare.3 This is disappointing\, but can’t be ignored alongside
the fact that CMA endorsed Becerra and is now spending at least $500\,000
to help get him elected.4\,5\nHealth care is without a doubt the biggest
issue in this race\, and who we elect to serve as our next governor will p
lay a major role in how fast Californians can achieve the universal\, sing
le-payer system we deserve.\nLet’s do everything we can in these last two
weeks to support Steyer and send him to the general election in November:
sign up now to join the phone bank on May 27th!\nSign Up »\nThe more calls
we make\, the more voters we can turn out to elect a single-payer health
care supporter as governor of California.\nIn solidarity\,\nNurses’ Campai
 gn to Win CalCare
