Spies of Missis sippi by director Dawn Porter is a journey into the chilling wo rld of anti-civil rights espionage\, the world of informants\, infiltrator s and agent provocateurs.

Stoked by the fear of desegregation\, equa lity\, and wanting to maintain the “Mississippi way of life”\, the state f ormed the Mississippi Sovereignty Commission (MSSC) which operated from th e 195s to 1997.

This operation t hrough a network of investigators\, informants and spies infiltrated some of the largest Black organizations like the NAACP and CORE (Congress of Ra cial Equality) involving over 87\,000 Americans in the course of a decade.

Spies of M ississippi brings to light the Commission’s hidden role in many of the most important chapters of the Civil Rights Movement including the integration of the University of Mississippi\, the killing of Medgar Ever s\, and the KKK murders of three civil rights workers in 1964.
