Congress: Block Trump’s arms sales to Saudi Arabia | Win Without War

2021 has to be the year we finally end U.S. support of the devastating Saudi- and Emirati-led war in Yemen — and we do that by challenging every single one of these sales

Unfortunately, pushing the weapons sale forward now means Trump could wrap it up by the time Biden takes office on January 20th. That means we’ve got to jump into action and urge Congress to block these sales NOW

Wednesday, January 6

1. Wednesday 3:00pm, MAGA Insurrectionists Have Violently Breeched Capitol in DC, Caravan Counter-Protest in SF

Meet at:

SF City Hall
1 Dr.Carleton B. Goodlett Place
SF

Press Conf. for about 15 – 30min in front of SF City Hall Then Car Caravan

Mask Up, observe Social Distancing. Individual or family occupied vehicles only.

Join Refuse Fascism in San Francisco for a car caravan. Gather at City Hall, Polk Street side, to “decorate” cars with signs, provided, or bring your own.

https://actionnetwork.org/…/car-caravan-trump-lost…/

We will caravan thru the Castro and Mission districts.

TODAY, the date Congress should follow its constitutional duty and certify Biden’s win, Trump has incited fascist mobs to go “wild” in DC. And they have! People have been injured including one woman seriously injured with a gun shot to the chest.

In San Francisco activists will launch a demonstration with a car caravan starting at San Francisco City Hall that will wind its way through the Castro and Mission Districts and other parts of the city.

The caravan will begin with a press conference starting at 3pm in front of San Francisco City Hall. Trump has encouraged violence on January 6 as he has on other important dates, and the non-violent counter-protesters in San Francisco will respond to this coup attempt and the stream of aggression and violence in the District.

Activists from a coalition of groups are calling for people to wake up to the reality of the unprecedented behavior of a sitting president who has legitimized the lie of a stolen election in the eyes of many millions of his supporters and mobilized white supremacist MAGA mobs to rampage, terrorize, and intimidate anyone who stands in their way.

The Frontline Events · Mobilize

This event will have Spanish and ASL interpretation, and closed captioning.

As of today, nearly 12 million people in the US are behind $6,000 in their rent or utilities. As soon as the current eviction moratorium ends, about 30 million people will be in danger of losing their homes

The Frontline, Movement for Black Lives, The Working Families Party, and United We Dream invite you to a tele-townhall to hear updates and analysis from movement leaders, engage in political education, and take meaningful action. Join our special guest, Congresswoman Ilhan Omar — a policy analyst, organizer, advocate, and the first woman of color to represent Minnesota — as well as progressives from around the country as we make sense of the current moment, build our collective power, and come together in community.

On January 6th we’ll discuss:

·       Updates about the GA Senate runoff results and analysis about what that means for our policy agenda

·       The many ways the economic crisis is hitting our communities

·       Analysis on the eviction crisis as part of the economic crisis, and what could happen if the eviction moratorium is not extended

·       Our plan to build local political power for affordable housing and economic justice

·       Our broader fight for a progressive agenda with the incoming administration

REGISTER here: bit.ly/Slash-SFPD-Budget

Join with community members and activists in the Slash SFPD’s Stash coalition, which is calling on the San Francisco city government to make major cuts to the police budget and to disarm the cops.

By decreasing the cops’ allotment by half or more, the racist practices of the police can be reined in. Funds should be re-directed to provide jobs, training programs, housing, education and healthcare, including mental health and nutrition programs, to the city’s most underserved communities.

All are welcome. Come share your ideas for making police disarmament and slashing SFPD’s budget to re-fund social services a reality.

7. Monday, 8:30am, Drop Jamaica’s Charges Now

In-person

Hall of Justice (Steps)
850 Bryant St.
SF

SIGN UP HERE: Join the Jamaica Hampton Support Team for Updates

One year after Jamaica Hampton was shot by SFPD, a Grand Jury indicted both him and the officer who shot him. Jamaica surrendered and was released without bail after almost eight hours of waiting. We are now preparing for the first court hearing on Monday 1/11 and will be meeting at 8:30am on the steps of 850 Bryant.

It is because of the SFPD that Jamaica had to have his left leg amputated in January and suffered permanent nerve damage to his left, dominant arm. He finally received his prosthetic leg just last month and is deep in the hard work of learning to use it. Jamaica is grateful to be alive—unlike so many police shooting victims— and continues to process this and the many other challenges he has faced in his life including the recent passing of his mother.

Jamaica wants nothing more than to be free and to begin the next chapter of his life. We want to create a support team that can show up to his court dates, contact the DA, and engage in future actions!

We ask that those who want to show up for Jamaica respect his wishes to not provoke the officers present, but to be there in solidarity. Since Jamaica is being tried alongside Office Flores we imagine there will be a number of police officers present. We ask for restraint, recognizing that while this court-case is part of a larger struggle, our intentions first and foremost are to get the court to drop charges against Jamaica Hampton. Let’s show up together in solidarity.

We may not be able to all go inside due to COVID-19 but it’s important to have a large presence and we will be rallying in the hallway or outside to show our support.
