Online registration: Meeting Registration – Zoom

Hear the latest on Jenin….

This week, we watched with horror as the Israeli military laid siege to the occupied Palestinian city of Jenin and the crowded Jenin refugee camp, launching airstrikes, bombing the Jenin Freedom Theater, cutting off water and electricity, and trapping thousands of Palestinian civilians inside.

Channel your anger and devastation into action by joining JVP’s Power Hour for Palestine on Thursday, July 6 at 12pm PT / 3pm ET. We’ll come together to learn what’s most important to understand and take collective action to end U.S. military funding to Israel’s apartheid regime.

Spanish interpretation

Join 350.org for an exciting lineup of speakers for you, including activists from the frontlines of the fights against pipelines in Appalachia and Tanzania and Uganda, to the struggle to preserve the Weelaunee Forest (Stop Cop City) in Atlanta, and the Maine ballot initiative on energy.

They’ll share updates on their work, draw connections between our struggles, and provide a sneak peek into how 350 US plans to tackle the energy crisis through utilities companies — and more details about how you can get engaged this summer and fall.

Between extreme weather events like the ongoing Canadian wildfires and the approval of new fossil fuel projects like the Mountain Valley Pipeline, it’s clear that our mission to end the era of fossil fuels and switch to justly sourced renewable energy is increasingly important.

Gerald Smith, Labor Action Committee to Free Mumia Abu-Jamal

The Labor Action Committee to Free Mumia Abu-Jamal (LAC) cordially invites you to a panel discussion to launch a new book on the Mumia Abu-Jamal case written by his former attorney, Eliot Lee Grossman. Mr. Grossman represented Mumia, with his colleagues Marlene Kamish, British barrister Nick Brown, and J. Michael Farrell, from  2001-2003, and saved his life by convincing a federal judge to overturn his death sentence, a decision later upheld on appeal.

The panel includes attorney Rachel Wolkenstein who, as head of the Partisan Defense Committee, brought Mumia’s case to national and international prominence, represented Mumia from 1995-1999 with co-counsel Jonathan Piper, and investigated, discovered and developed new evidence of Mumia’s innocence. Ex-Black Panther Gerald Smith will also speak on behalf of the LAC.

Copies of the book will be available for sale and signing by the author. Join our panelists to discuss how the labor movement and its allies can revitalize the international campaign to Free Mumia Now!

101 Grove St., Rm 100
SF

Phone: and phone call-in (415-655-0001, Code 2599 353 8517 #, #, press *3 to speak)

Agenda: July 11, 2023 LHH JCC Meeting | San Francisco (sf.gov)

From SF Gray Panthers:

As our Call to Action explains, the big questions are: When will LHH be recertified and resume admissions?  Will closure and the deadly eviction of residents, currently scheduled for Sept. 19, occur, and when?  Are all levels of government acting to avoid a state-wide crisis in the shortage of Med-CAL nursing home beds? Please read our ‘Call to Action’”  SF GRAY PANTHERS (panther-gray.web.app) and testify in-person, by phone, or by email. No Closures!  No Evictions! No Bed Cuts! Restart LHH admissions! Provide housing and treatment for SFs mentally ill and substance users separate from Laguna Honda, a nursing home.
