3. Saturday, 12Noon – 1:30pm, N. California UAW Solidarity Rally:Victory For UAW Auto Workers Your Fight Is Our Fight

GM Cruise Lot
530 10th St./Bryant (nr. COSTCO)

Let’s join together to let GM and the auto bosses know we have the back of UAW strikers and their struggle for justice.

80 % of workers support strike

Info:

 N. California UAW Solidarity Rally:Victory For UAW Auto Workers Your Fight Is Our Fight : Indybay

The UAW workers are fighting for all of us. All workers need a 32-hour work week for 40 hours pay, a COLA on their wages and end to two tiers. They want defined pensions for all workers and a living-wage with a 40% pay increase.

They are also fighting for AI and robotics to benefit them instead of the auto bosses who want to eliminate 40% of the workers with EV vehicles and substandard jobs and wages at US subsidized battery plants.

GM owned robotic taxi company Cruise is trying to destroy thousands of driver jobs with their robontaxis. They are blocking the streets and on August 14th, an injured pedestrian died when two Cruise robotaxis blocked the road.

The fight of the striking SAG-AFTRA and Writers to demand control of the introduction of AI is a fight for healthcare workers, Teamsters, and education workers. A victory for them will be a victory for all union members and working people. Over 80,000 Kaiser workers will be strike on Oct 4 and other workers are fighting for contracts. It is time to unite all these struggles to win.
We are calling for solidarity actions in the US and around the world on September 30 to show this is a global fight for all working people.

The Republicans also want to shut down the govern- ment to force wage cuts and massive cutbacks on social services. If the government is shut down by these union busters and reactionaries, we need to give them a real shutdown by organizing a general strike to really shut- down the country. It’s past time that all working people stand up to the continuing assault on the lives of working people and the oppressed in this country.

Jean Pfaelzer is a commentator, historian, and professor of American studies at the University of Delaware. A life-long Californian, she has written extensively for popular and academic audiences on the state’s origins, and has authored many books on 19th Century American studies, especially about California.

Her most recent book, California, A Slave State, upends our understanding of slavery as a North-South struggle. In deep research across three centuries, vivid storytelling and interviews, she documents that our state’s beginnings and sunny utopian prosperity have a history of brutal multiracial bondage, resistance, and servitude that persists today. As other states are banning the teaching of our true history in schools and academia, her work stands out as a beacon of light and hope for the future.

About 2 years ago  during the ‘pandemic’ many city employees were fired for refusing the vaccine. Now only a select people were given back their jobs and benefits. Many were not given their jobs back.

Despite your opinion on the vaccine – it should be an individual choice. Other counties, like Alameda did not fire their employees.

November 11 & 12, No to APEC! People’s Counter Summit and Actions Against APEC in SF, Nov. 11 & 12, 2023

No to APEC! People’s Counter Summit and Actions Against APEC in SF, Nov. 11 & 12, 2023 (google.com)

The Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC) is coming to San Francisco in November to establish major international trade deals. The ministers and businesses involved prioritize corporate profits over people’s needs while crafting agreements that will impact over 3 billion people around the world.

The trade deal that will be the focus of these trade talks is called the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF). IPEF already includes fourteen countries, and between them, would set rules governing approximately 40% of the global economy. More countries are expected to join IPEF, too, and it could become the template for new trade deals around the world.

IPEF would usher in a major increase in the power of multinational corporations, more offshoring of jobs during an already severe unemployment crisis, easy access to personal data by corporations and governments for surveillance and profit motives, deregulation of price and product quality standards, and the further erosion of democratic governance in countries throughout the Pacific. We must not let this deal for the rich pass without a fight!
