Supervisors: Vote NO to Mandatory Police Staffing and Funding
Monday • October 30 • 10 am
SF Supes Rules Committee will be discussing a charter amendmentto mandate police funding and minimum staffing for police for the March 2024 ballot. Please plan on coming and speaking out against this measure. It is first on the Agenda. It sets staffing of officers at 1,700 for the first year, then raises the number by 100 every year after that for five years, and locks the budget into funding those positions. This will directly negatively impact funding for healthcare, housing, jobs, childcare, and more. It will increase police attacks on homeless people, people of color, and the poor.Incarcerations are climbing already. Read more from Coalition on Homelessness.
