In the next 90 days, we have a strategic opportunity to transform the Democratic Party.
On February 1, over 400 DNC members will meet outside Washington DC to elect a new Chair and other top officers who will lead us through the 2026 midterms. And we will be there!
After a disastrous election, the Democratic National Committee faces a critical choice: Embrace transformative reforms or risk losing the trust of the working class voters and losing more elections to the GOP. As highlighted in a recent Sludge article, Our Revolution leaders — who are also DNC members — are advocating for major changes at the DNC.
- Ban Dark Money in Primaries: One of my top priorities — along with our founder Bernie Sanders — is to eliminate Big Money groups like AIPAC and CRYPTO in the candidate nominating process. This move would ensure that elections are decided by voters, not influenced by hidden corporate financiers.
- Invest in State Parties and Grassroots Organizing: Jane Kleeb, chair of the Nebraska Democratic Party and board member of Our Revolution, is calling on the DNC to invest in state parties for grassroots organizing, instead of giving lucrative contracts to out-of-touch political consultants in DC.
- Make the DNC Budget Transparent & Hold Consultants Accountable: Nina Turner and Jim Zogby, founding Our Revolution board members, are demanding the DNC disclose the money it gets from grassroots Democrats and how it’s spent. There needs to be clear reporting and accountability to prevent conflicts of interest and ensure our money isn’t spent on crony consultants who fail to deliver and lose elections. Zogby is also running for vice chair of the DNC on that platform.
- Recommit to a Progressive Platform and Small Donor Democracy: The DNC must end its reliance on large corporate donors in favor of small-dollar contributions to align the DNC’s fundraising practices with its stated values to fight for working class Americans.
