Our democracy and elections have been challenged more than ever this year.  But there was good news:  not only was record turnout aided by major expansions of Vote-By-Mail across the country, but multiple states passed strong Democracy ballot measures and rejected bad ones.

In California, record spending on ballot measures illustrated another way that Big Money special interests dominate our political process.  But at least California voters could see who was funding those ads better than ever before, thanks to the Clean Money champion authors, coalition partners, and activists like you who helped us pass the nation-leading California DISCLOSE Act (Mullin) and major follow-up bills including the Social Media DISCLOSE Act and Text Message DISCLOSE Act (Cervantes-Mullin).  But much more needs to be done.

Please join us for a special statewide activists call next Tuesday night (12/8) at 8pm to hear what happened this year and the first parts of what will be on the Clean Money agenda to help ensure fair elections next year!  RSVP now for the call-in number and access code.

We’ll talk about:

• The success of expanded Vote-By-Mail in allowing record turnout even during the pandemic.

• Democracy ballot measure victories in Alaska, Colorado, Florida, Oregon, Virginia, and other states.

• Secretary of State Alex Padilla’s failure to address election serious security flaws in Los Angeles’ new voting system despite the coalition letter signed by 81 state, national, and local organizations and experts urging him to make its final certification contingent on fixing them.

• HR 1, the For the People Act to be reintroduced by Congress to provide public financing of campaigns, increased disclosure, increased election security, and more for Fair Elections nationwide.

• And last but certainly not least, the renewed introduction of one of our most important DISCLOSE Act bills in the legislature — and the major campaign we’ll be starting for it!

Please join us for a special statewide activists call next Tuesday night (12/8) at 8pm to hear what happened this year and the first parts of what will be on the Clean Money agenda to help ensure fair elections next year!  RSVP now for the call-in number and access code.

Thank you if you can join next Tuesday night’s call.  If you can’t make it (or if you can), please consider helping us build on the national and California momentum for the DISCLOSE Act and Fair Elections by becoming a monthly Clean Money member or by making a one-time donation of $3 or more!

Thank you for standing with us in the fight for fair elections and for everything you do.
