CODEPINK Golden Gate Chapter Gathering: Beautiful Trouble!

Join Codepink Golden Gate for a sweet gathering in the sunny outdoors at Ohlone Park. Special guest: Betsy Rose will lead us in beautiful song (http://www.betsyrosemusic.org)

WHEN: Saturday, May 20, 2017 3-5 pm
WHERE: Ohlone Park Berkeley, Hearst and MLK Jr. Way
WHAT: Let’s Meet, Talk, Sing, Plan Actions to Defund War and Promote a Peace Economy

We want your ideas, energy and creativity to plan and carry out actions to defund the war economy and promote a peace economy, weaving together the strands of environmental and social justice. Whether you’re interested in cutting the military budget & opposing $54 billion more for weapons and war; addressing climate change, income inequality, nonviolent revolution, health care for all, reproductive rights, sanctuary for immigrants; ending the drone warfare program; helping with relief for the famine and drought emergency in East Africa; supporting local sustainable energy and food production; connecting with women around the world working for peace and justice — we can work together in our women-led, creative, and loving CODEPINK style to address these issues and more.

Join a team, dream up strategic actions, get support to plan and carry out an action, activate and step up to make needed change. This is a facilitated meeting; we try to hear everyones’ voices while respecting our agenda and limited time. Women are powerful, women are peace-loving, women are going to lead the way.

Bring: a cushion, blanket or folding chair to sit on, drinks and snacks to share, sweater or jacket in case it’s chilly, good intentions

CODEPINK Tells Wells Fargo: Stop Toxic Banking!

Friends, our movie “Codepink vs. Toxic Banking” is finished and ready to post. Thank you for posting it everywhere so people can be inspired to step up to shut toxic banks, divest from financial instruments, move their money, demand that their cities, pension plans, churches, workplaces, schools, clubs, organizations move their money, from the 17 felonious financial institutions funding Energy Transfer Partners and the Dakota Access Pipeline project as well as the many other pipelines, toxic fossil fuel projects, private prisons, and to reject Wall Street banks and their unethical and criminal behavior. The best place for your money is a well-established and local credit union, or small local community bank.

Don’t like risking arrest or having too much fun? Then check out this article and write to the felonious financial institutions killing our planet: http://www.yesmagazine.org/people-power/how-to-contact-the-17-banks-funding-the-dakota-access-pipeline-20160929

Codepink Golden Gate, with accomplices from Friends of the Public Bank of Oakland, Indivisible Berkeley, 350.org, Sunflower Alliance and Progressive Democrats of America closed a downtown Oakland Wells Fargo Bank for the 4/29 Climate Mobilization, and then was showered with applause at the Climate Movement event at Lake Merritt. Beautiful trouble indeed!  Want to borrow our pipeline or learn how to make one of your own? Get in touch: codepinkgg@gmail.com. Come to our May 20th gathering at Ohlone Park in Berkeley!
