The President of the United States is a mentally ill man who gets his “information” from World Net Daily, and is very likely an agent of our worst foreign enemy.  His most trusted advisor has had no qualms about freely discussing his mission to destroy the country from within.  The incredibly corrupt Republican Congress is poised to do absolutely nothing about it.  This is not dime store fiction.
They’re calling the press “enemy of the people” and making vague threats to shut it down, along with popular assembly.  They want to massively increase the cost of healthcare to seniors and sick people, significantly defund Medicare and Social Security, inflict serious damage on public education.  They’re destroying lives and damaging the economy to indulge bizarre, xenophobic fantasies, including stealing money from programs like PBS to build a ridiculous $20 billion wall.  Hard-won women’s and LGBT rights are under attack.  Worst of all, they’re gearing up to inflict damage on the atmosphere that could end humanity altogether within a few centuries.

If we make it to mid-March, San Francisco for Democracy’s first panel will examine the threats to democracy and the public welfare in detail, featuring experts from the ACLU, the League of Conservation Voters, Planned Parenthood, Electronic Frontier Foundation, the NEA, and others.  We will also get some direction from them on mounting an effective resistance.
The second part of our program will feature representatives from local organizations like Indivisible, SFVision, SF Berniecrats, and Democracy Action on how we can unite locally to fight back, and to get Democrats elected in 2018 and 2020.

SF4D will continue to hold informational programs like this well into the year, and we plan to increase our own outreach activities.  Come out and see how you can get involved!
