We hope you had a great Thanksgiving holiday break with family and friends! Make sure to come to our upcoming December 2023 General Membership Meeting on Wednesday, December 6th! It will be 6:30pm-8:30pm, and out of caution with COVID/RSV/Flu going around, we will be having this meeting via Zoom only! This meeting will be focused on candidates and ballot measures seeking the Berniecrats’ endorsement for the March 2024 ballot, here is the agenda. We’ll be endorsing in the following races:
- US Senate (CA)
- CA State Assembly, AD-17 & AD-19
- CA State Senate, SD-7 & SD-11
- Democratic County Central Committee (DCCC) for AD-17 & AD-19
- State Measure: Proposition 1
- Local Measures:
- Affordable Housing Bond
- 8th Grade Algebra
- Minimum Police Staffing and Five-Year Annual Funding Requirement
- Substance Abuse Screening, Evaluation, & Treatment Requirements for CAAP Assistance
- Police Department Policies and Procedures and Use of Technology
- Transfer Tax Exemption to Residential Use
- Gift Prohibitions and Reporting, Bribery, Ethics Training
- SF Supreme Court Judges
Voting-eligible members will be able to vote in these endorsements, which requires attendance at two out of the last three Berniecrats meetings (including December), and dues paid for 2023. You can also pay your membership dues here if you haven’t already, or email us to waive your dues if you’re experiencing financial hardship.
Last week, Supervisor Dean Preston announced that he would be introducing a resolution at the SF Board of Supervisors meeting to call for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza/Palestine. Be sure to turn out for public comment on Tuesday, December 5th at 2pm, at City Hall! Please also use this link to send an email to your supervisor to get them to support!
