(Photo: Fight for the Future)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden\">\n<div class=\"field__items\">\n<div class=\"field__item even\">\n<div>\n<p>With just days to go before the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.deadlinefornetneutrality.com\/\">Dec. 10 deadline<\/a>\u00a0to restore net neutrality protections, Fight for the Future on Wednesday\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.demsagainstthe.net\/\">launched a new website<\/a>\u00a0to pressure the 18 House Democrats who have yet to sign on to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/news\/2018\/05\/17\/uphill-battle-net-neutrality-defenders-say-victory-house-possible\">congressional resolution<\/a>\u00a0that would overturn FCC chair Ajit Pai&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/news\/2017\/12\/13\/poll-almost-nobody-likes-plan-kill-net-neutrality-gop-fcc-chair-ajit-pai-were-doing\">deeply unpopular<\/a>\u00a0assault on the open internet.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"pullquote\">&#8220;These Democrats have no excuse: their constituents want them to support real net neutrality and the entire rest of their party has already done so.&#8221;<br \/>\n\u2014Evan Greer, Fight for the Future<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In addition to highlighting the names of the Democratic lawmakers who have yet to take a stand for net neutrality by signing on to the House Congressional Review Act (CRA) measure, the website\u2014titled\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.demsagainstthe.net\/\">DemsAgainstThe.Net<\/a>\u2014also shows the amount of campaign cash each of the holdouts has received from the telecom industry.<\/p>\n<p>For example, according to Fight for the Future, Rep. G.K. Butterfield (D-N.C.) is &#8220;selling out for $408,000.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s hard to think of a more nauseatingly clear example of the corrupting influence of telecom money in our democracy,&#8221; Evan Greer, deputy director of Fight for the Future, said in a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/newswire\/2018\/12\/05\/net-neutrality-activists-launch-demsagainstthenet-call-out-handful-remaining\">statement<\/a>, urging people to contact their representatives. &#8220;These Democrats have no excuse: their constituents want them to support real net neutrality and the entire rest of their party has already done so. Do they really want to be seen as more beholden to corporate interests than the three Republican senators who voted for the CRA?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The 18 House Democrats who still haven&#8217;t signed on to the Congressional Review Act (CRA) measure to restore net neutrality protections are: Reps.\u00a0<strong>Brandon Boyle<\/strong>\u00a0(Pa.),\u00a0<strong>Robert Brady<\/strong>\u00a0(Pa.),\u00a0<strong>G.K. Butterfield<\/strong>\u00a0(N.C.),\u00a0<strong>Matt Cartwright<\/strong>\u00a0(Pa.),\u00a0<strong>Jim Costa<\/strong>\u00a0(Calif.),\u00a0<strong>Henry Cueller<\/strong>\u00a0(Texas),\u00a0<strong>Dwight Evans<\/strong>\u00a0(Pa.),\u00a0<strong>Vicente Gonzalez<\/strong>\u00a0(Texas),\u00a0<strong>Josh Gottheimer<\/strong>\u00a0(N.J.),\u00a0<strong>Gene Green<\/strong>\u00a0(Texas),\u00a0<strong>Tom O&#8217;Halleran<\/strong>\u00a0(Ariz.),\u00a0<strong>Brad Schneider<\/strong>(Ill.),\u00a0<strong>David Scott<\/strong>\u00a0(Ga.),\u00a0<strong>Kyrsten Sinema<\/strong>\u00a0(Ariz.),\u00a0<strong>Filemon Vela<\/strong>\u00a0(Texas),\u00a0<strong>Pete Visclosky<\/strong>\u00a0(Ind.),\u00a0<strong>Frederica Wilson<\/strong>\u00a0(Fla.), and\u00a0<strong>Mary Gay Scanlon<\/strong>\u00a0(Pa.).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re putting these congressmembers on notice and sending a clear message: The internet never forgets,&#8221; Greer continued. &#8220;It&#8217;s clear that these congressmembers are deep in the pockets of lobbyists at big [internet service providers] like Verizon, Comcast, and AT&amp;T.
