2600 Magazine<\/a> has compiled a full listing of Customs and Border Patrol stations, a number of which are being used to imprison migrants, immigrants, and\/or refugees, many of whom are children. In the interests of openness, we are sharing that info here. Please note that not every facility in this list is being used for this purpose, but many existing camps are either at one of these addresses or are being managed there. And the potential for expansion is ever present. This is also only a partial list of the total number of camps, as others are operated by different branches of the government, as well as by private companies. We will be updating it as we receive and compile more data. We resist the detention of immigrant children in concentration camps, like what was done in the past to Jewish communities, indigenous communities, and Japanese and Japanese Americans during World War II. We stand with members of the Japanese American community who are calling for the closing of all detention centers: “Never Again Is Now.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indivisible East Bay is proud to join the wide coalition of groups presenting Lights for Liberty events! We will co-host an event on the evening of Friday July 12 with Together We Will-Albany Berkeley and El Cerrito Progressives. 

We will gather on the University Avenue pedestrian bridge in Berkeley, over I-80. Please bring a candle for the vigil. (We have a few.) Large signs are preferred so cars on the freeway can read them until it gets dark. Signs should reflect the inhumane conditions of refugees, detentions, and camps. While Amazon launches “Prime Day,” offering discounts to its millions of customers on July 15th, we demand Amazon end its relationship with ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and CBP (Customs and Border Protection)! Amazon has promoted it’s facial recognition technology “Rekognition,” to local law enforcement agencies and ICE nationwide, facilitating the use of the technology to target undocumented immigrants in a largely unregulated industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Join us for an action at 525 Market Street outside Amazon’s office downtown. bring your noisemakers, bullhorns, and signs for a protest of Amazon’s profits while thousands of children and families suffer in isolation in one of the hundreds of detention centers across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
