For decades, Lisa Fithian\u2019s work as an advocate for civil disobedience and nonviolent direct action has put her on the frontlines of change. Since mid-July, UUSF has been bearing witness – both within our walls and outside – to the human rights abuses committed by our government against vulnerable refugees. From the start it has been our hope to help spread this sort of activism in our interfaith community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Together with our neighboring church, St. Mark\u2019s Lutheran, and activists from Or Shalom Synagogue, our Close the Camps Committee is planning for a rush hour mobilization of faith communities at our location We will gather in front of our church with the goal of having enough people of faith and conscience to encircle our Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volunteer as a cook for this event! As we will be hosting members of other congregations, we would like to show them hospitality and appreciation for joining us by providing a dinner following the witness. The ingredients will be provided, but we need cooks. Not everyone enjoys marching with signs or speaking to crowds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Women, girls, and allies are invited to join a diverse coalition of women’s groups, climate justice organizations, and others – to organize and strike together, in solidarity, as part of the Global Climate Strike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CLIMATE STRIKE STREET MURAL TRAINING<\/strong>
On Sept 25th Strike for Climate Justice, there will be a series of giant street murals of the solutions led by a range of community groups. TRAINING: We will offer a series of 2 hour street mural trainings; How to design and paint a street mural using non toxic tempera and clay paint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


MURAL FACILITATORS:<\/strong> We are looking for mural team members who can help with the overall mural tasks that day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
