This evening event aims to bring a combination of scholars and Kurdish community members from the Bay Area to dialogue about their experience and insights on the Kurdish struggle and answer any questions the audience may have. We hope that this community engagement and the experiences and knowledge shared could stimulate deeper understanding and constructive action.

Join us to learn, to share, and to be together.
In honor of Jin Jiyan Azadi / Women Life Freedom

Speakers:
Raman Osman, Introduction to Kurdish case in Rojava
Deellan Kashani, Kurdish history, Rojava, and Women’s movement in Kurdistan
Jenefer and Michael Israel, parents of Micheal Israel, Şehîd Robin Agiri
Andrej Grubacic, PhD, Director of Anthropology and Social Change, CIIS

Music: Raman Osman, Instrumental Kurdish lament

Contact: NSoyalp@mymail.ciis.edu

Info: https://www.facebook.com/events/583909752168583/

Tuesday, November 26

9. Hundreds of sections are already lost, students endure larger classes and reduced access to key supports like library and counseling hours. If unaddressed, these budget cuts will force the college to eliminate one out of every three classes it offers.

In response to the budget crisis and the drastic slashing of our classes we are having a series of Speak-Outs for Education Justice. We will be asking folks to sign on to a letter outlining our vision to resolve the budget crisis by fully funding our college.

We call on San Francisco to establish a Community Higher Education Fund (CHEF), modeled on the Public Education Enrichment Fund (PEEF), which provides funding to the Pre-K-12 system for programs underfunded by the state, such as libraries, arts, and preschools. In a similar way, the CHEF would bridge the gap between state funding and San Francisco’s higher education needs, supporting programs like English as a Second Language, Career and Technical Education, Ethnic Studies, Transitional Studies, and more.

10.
