Illustrations by Neil Ballard.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Welcome back to \u201cMeet the Candidates\u201d series for District 11, where we ask each candidate to answer one question per week leading up to the election, with answers in about 100 words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>District 11 Supervisor Ahsha Safa\u00ed is termed out \u2014 and running for mayor \u2014 and, so far, seven candidates, including three that filed last week, have&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sf.gov\/reports\/november-2024\/candidates-november-5-2024-consolidated-general-election#board-of-supervisors-district-11\">thrown their hats in the ring<\/a>&nbsp;to replace him as the representative of the Excelsior, Oceanview and Outer Mission.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We were able to identify and talk to one of the three new candidates, Michael Lai, who will join the \u201cMeet the Candidates\u201d series next week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In week 8, we are asking:\u00a0<strong>What potential do you see in District 11?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Note: Next week, I\u2019ll be in District 11 at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 25, at Purple Park Playground, at 1398 Geneva Ave. Drop by and share your thoughts!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newspack-missionlocal.s3.amazonaws.com\/mission\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Chyanne-Chen-640x640.png?resize=640%2C640&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"Drawing of Chyanne Chen, candidate for District 11 supervisor for 2024\" class=\"wp-image-586202\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Living in District 11 since Aug. 2000<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-chyanne-chen\"><strong>Chyanne Chen<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Worker Organizer, Community Facilitator &amp; Educator<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>District 11, one of the most diverse districts in SF, is home to longtime multigenerational residents who\u2019ve been the mainstay of our community.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My vision is a community where&nbsp;<strong>residents forge strong, collaborative ties<\/strong>. Together we can accomplish this by creating community hubs and ensuring services are available to everyone.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We need to foster&nbsp;<strong>commercial revitalization<\/strong>, and improve the safety and functionality of our&nbsp;<strong>public<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>infrastructure<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My vision for District 11 is a&nbsp;<strong>community<\/strong>&nbsp;that is even more inclusive, and to foster a thriving neighborhood that truly reflects the values and needs of all its residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newspack-missionlocal.s3.amazonaws.com\/mission\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/D11-Adlah-Chisti-640x640.png?resize=640%2C640&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"Drawing of Adlah Chisti, District 11 supervisor candidate for 2024\" class=\"wp-image-585611\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Born in District 11 in 1983, and lived there since. Moved out in 2013 and back in 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-adlah-chisti\"><strong>Adlah Chisti<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Public Policy Analyst \/Caregiver<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I love Beep\u2019s burger. I was at Sunnyside Elementary, Aptos Middle school and then Lick-Wilmerding H.S. and we used to go there after school.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A&nbsp;<strong>drive-in movie theater space<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A&nbsp;<strong>bike path<\/strong>&nbsp;that connects Holloway Avenue through CCSF and one down through Geneva.
