A group called Greenheart is trying to save the McLaren Park trees that SF Recreation and Parks Department is trying to fell. They recently rallied some people to join them and hold up posters in the park.<\/p>\n\n\n

We are disappointed that SFRPD continues to cut down hundreds of trees across a city which already has an inadequate tree canopy.<\/p>\n\n\n

INADEQUATE TREE CANOPY<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The last time anyone looked at San Francisco\u2019s tree canopy\u00a0 (that we could find) was in 2013, now 11 years ago. In that time, hundreds \u2013 maybe thousands \u2013 of trees have been cut down. We would expect the numbers are worse now than they were then \u2013 13.7%>
Worse than Chicago. Worse than Los Angeles. Worse than New York City!<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

San Francisco Has the Least Canopy Cover of any Major US City as of 2013<\/p>\n\n\n\n
