Call ICE: <\/strong>For those unable to attend in person, we will provide a call script to contact the ICE office during the protest (11 AM – 12 PM)<\/strong>. This will help amplify the strikers\u2019 demands and disrupt business as usual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 Your support is needed for the courageous individuals currently on hunger strike at the Golden State Annex ICE Detention Center. On the 12th day of their strike, ten detainees decided to end their hunger strike after facing the threat of transfer to a notorious facility in Texas, known for its brutal force-feeding practices. However, the struggle for justice continues, and your involvement can make a significant difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s Happening?<\/strong><\/strong><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
Hunger Strike and Labor Strike: <\/strong>Since July 1st, 42 people have been detained at Golden State Annex have been on a hunger strike, escalating their ongoing labor strike. They are protesting the inhumane conditions and demanding immediate action from ICE and GEO Group. Their labor strike, which started with 59 participants, continues with at least 50 people refusing to work for $1 a day.<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
The Strikers\u2019 Demands:<\/strong>1.   Terminate the Contracts: End the detention contracts for Golden State Annex and Mesa Verde by December 2024.2.   Freedom: Review cases for fair release, including timely 6-month ICE custody reviews.3.   End Solitary Confinement: Solitary confinement must be stopped as it constitutes torture.4.   Adhere to Standards: Provide adequate medical care, nutritious food, and stop retaliation against those who speak out.5.   Free Phone Calls: Eliminate charges for phone calls to families, lawyers, and communities.     Host: Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity      <\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The ruling by the US Supreme Court that homeless people and people with drug addictions can be arrested and jailed was supported by Democrats California Governor Newsom and San Francisco Mayor London Breed.

They want massive arrests to clear the streets while thousands of people have no place to go. They will be taken to jail where the costs are even higher and the jails are already overcrowded. What Mayor Breed and the billionaires who she represents do not want to do is build housing for the working class and poor. The more than 80 billionaires in San Francisco and their candidates want more police and repression instead of a capital tax on their stolen wealth to build housing for people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The gentrification and housing policies by Breed and the Democrats has led to a mass departure of working people who can no longer afford to live where they work. That is why the cities empties out and is a further cause of capitalist economic decline. There are 16,000 empty flats in San Francisco but people are sleeping and dying in the streets every day.

We need a massive program for working class and poor housing and public control of healthcare including mental healthcare instead of relying on non-profits with low paid workers. More police and repression will not solve this economic and social crisis. While the Mayor, Newsom and the Democrats support more billions for more genocide in Gaza, the war in Ukraine and the encirclement of China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The more than 800 US military bases should should be shutdown and the main enemy is at home. It is the criminal billionaires and technofascists who are driving us toward fascism.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
