Democracy<\/a> defenders took to the streets Saturday in big cities and small towns from coast to coast and around the world to protest<\/a> President Donald Trump\u2019s authoritarianism<\/a> and to show the world<\/a> that <\/strong>\u201cAmerica has no kings, and the power belongs to the people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Organizers said<\/a> that more than 2,700 No Kings rallies are scheduled in every state and more than a dozen nations, in what could be the \u201clargest protest in US history\u201d in one day. Saturday\u2019s demonstrations followed June 14 No Kings protests<\/a> that drew millions of people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think that this is going to be a stronger push than the last one,\u201d Hunter Dunn of 50501, a progressive organization that is one of the event\u2019s organizers, told<\/a> The New York<\/a> Times<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m seeing more of an emphasis on the understanding that this is not just a sprint,\u201d he added. \u201cWe are seeing a difference in the understanding of the general public, that this is a marathon.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c Mike Johnson<\/a>, the Republican speaker of the House, called these rallies \u2018Hate America\u2019 events,\u201d Sanders told<\/a> a huge crowd in Washington, DC. \u201cWhy does he have it wrong? Millions of Americans are coming out today not because they hate America, we\u2019re here today because we love America.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cToday… in this dangerous moment in American history, our message is… no, President Trump, we don\u2019t want you or any other king to rule us,\u201d Sanders continued. \u201cWe will not move toward authoritarianism in America. We the People will rule!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The No Kings protests aren\u2019t for Trump to see.

They\u2019re for the marginalized so they know they aren\u2019t alone.
