Dick Cheney<\/a>, a chief architect of the US invasion of Iraq<\/a> and broader \u201cwar on terror<\/a>\u201d that has killed millions of people<\/a> since its inception, has died at 84, his family announced in a statement Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cheney was best known for his central role in the administration of former President George W. Bush<\/a>, under whom Cheney served as vice president.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe should have died in The Hague,\u201d journalist Mehdi Hasan wrote<\/a> in response to the news of Cheney\u2019s death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cheney\u2019s family said he died \u201cdue to complications of pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
