The legal advocacy organization Free Speech<\/a> for People on Thursday published a full-page advertisement<\/a> in The New York Times<\/a> highlighting the more than 1 million people who have endorsed the group\u2019s petition to impeach and remove President Donald Trump<\/a> from office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Free Speech for People\u2019s (FSFP) campaign\u2014which also includes billboard trucks and projections in Washington<\/a>, DC\u2014comes ahead of the third wave of \u201cNo Kings\u201d demonstrations, which are set to take place Saturday<\/a> in thousands of locations across the United States<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOn March 28, 2026, the people will rise up,\u201d said<\/a> FSFP digital organizing strategist Jax Foley. \u201cThe No Kings 3 protest<\/a> is projected to be the largest mass comobilization in US history, with over 3,000 actions planned worldwide. People across this country are organizing, mobilizing, defending their communities, and demanding accountability.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No Kings 3 comes amid Trump\u2019s attacks<\/a> on the rule of law<\/a> and constitutional rights at home and escalating militarism<\/a> abroad as the president has bombed<\/a> seven countries since returning to office\u2014and 10 or possibly even 11<\/a> over the course of his two terms\u2014while backing Israel\u2019s genocidal war on Gaza<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDonald Trump poses a direct threat to our Constitution and to the rule of law,\u201d FSFP president and co-founder John Bonifaz said in a statement. \u201cThe constitutional remedy of impeachment<\/a> exists precisely for moments like this when a president abuses power, defies the law, and attacks democracy<\/a> itself. Congress must act.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FSFP\u2019s petition<\/a>, which was launched<\/a> on the day of Trump\u2019s second inauguration, urges Congress to \u201ctake action to defend our republic and Constitution\u201d by impeaching the president again. As of Thursday afternoon, the petition had over 1,070,000 signatures and is more than halfway to its goal of 2 million signers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor more than a year, FSFP\u2019s team of lawyers, election security experts, and grassroots organizers have been tirelessly and fiercely leading the campaign to impeach and remove Trump and key administration officials,\u201d Foley said. \u201cWe have heard from people across the United States who are with us in the call for no kings, no tyrants, and the immediate impeachment and removal of Trump and his coconspirators. Put the power back in the hands of We The People.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump is the only US president to be impeached twice\u2014once<\/a> in 2019 for abuse of power and obstruction of justice and again<\/a> in 2021 for incitement of insurrection. A majority of senators voted to acquit Trump in 2019; a majority\u2014but not the requisite two-thirds\u2014voted to convict in 2021. Both chambers of Congress are now narrowly controlled by Trump\u2019s GOP<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe congressional power of impeachment is designed to address this tyrannical threat to our democracy,\u201d FSFP said in the New York Times ad. \u201cMembers of Congress must abide by their oath to protect and defend the Constitution and impeach and remove Trump from office.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
