Photo: Robert Divers Herrick \/ The Guardian<\/p>\n<p>Rugs were designed by artists, hand woven in Lahore, Pakistan, and express shipped to San Francisco for the exhibition titled\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.for-site.org\/project\/sanctuary\/\">Sanctuary<\/a>. Visitors can take off their shoes and walk, kneel or lay on the rugs \u2013 there are no restrictions. The rugs are of different colours, textures and styles, each sending a different message.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition is organised by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.for-site.org\/about\/\">non-profit For-Site<\/a>. Initially, curators planned that the project, which is aimed against Trump\u2019s travel ban, would feature works from six predominantly Muslim countries. [\u2026] We can build walls and have men with guns to keep people from moving, but the only natural division in the world, really, is between the land and the sea.
