Important Single Payer Health Care Actions!
The long-standing inequities and preventable deaths, especially affecting Black and Brown communities during the COVID pandemic, and the skyrocketing costs of healthcare, have ignited a fierce urgency to guarantee quality, cost-effective healthcare to all who live in the Golden State. To accomplish that requires leadership from the Governor Newsom.
Governor Newsom needs to engage in negotiations with the Biden Administration to secure the federal funding and support necessary to implement single-payer, Medicare-for-All-type reform in California. These resources must be obtained through a “waiver” from the federal Department of Health and Human Services. Only the governor can conduct those negotiations, with the support of the state legislature.
San Francisco Berniecrats invites you to:
1. RSVP at healthyca.org/june14
On June 14 at 5:30 p.m., we will be online with Dolores Huerta, other leading single- payer advocates, and patients harmed by the current costly and dysfunctional healthcare system. We’ll also prepare for social media and call-in actions taking place on June 15.
State Capitol Rally
On June 15, Healthcare and hospitality workers and advocates will gather at the State Capitol to present thousands of petition signatures urging Governor Newsom to lead the way for single payer in California. There will also be music and speakers.
For those still social distancing, a car caravan will circle the capitol during the rally to “wave for the waiver,” joining in the call for the governor to act now.
