I hope everyone is doing well. With vaccinations now open to everyone 16+ across the state, I hope you’re getting vaccinated and getting excited for this pandemic to be over. We’re almost there.
If you’re looking for a virtual way to celebrate Earth Day, please join us on Thursday April 22nd at 6:30 for a Earth Day Climate Action Town Hall.
I’ll be hosting two short panels with an amazing roster of speakers, talking about how we can address climate change and make our state safer and healthier.
First, we’ll be talking about my legislation SB 260, the Climate Corporate Accountability Act, with our cosponsors: Sunrise Bay Area, Carbon Accountable, and the California League of Conservation Voters. SB 260 requires large corporations to annually disclose their entire carbon footprint, with a blueprint to reducing that footprint so we can avoid the worst impacts of climate change.
Then, I’ll host a conversation about the environmental justice movement and our work to ban fracking and other dangerous drilling, as well as implementing buffer zones between oil wells and our schools, homes, etc. Speakers from the Center on Race, Poverty and the Environment, Climate Health Now, and more TBA will join me.
If you care about our planet, and frontline communities that are facing the worst impacts of fossil fuel extraction and climate change, please join us. We’ll be taking questions and letting you know how you can get involved and help.
