This month we celebrate and learn about Juneteenth, a national holiday since 2021.  It marks a real Independence Day that is still in the process of realization.  This film brings us from the first day of freedom from slavery to today’s complex world.  As usual it will be screened by Zoom with the option of meeting at the UU church in San Francisco.  Hope you can make it!

OUR DAILY BREAD VOICES COLLECTION PRESENTS JUNETEENTH: FAITH AND FREEDOM - A POIGNANT FILM THAT ...The documentary, Juneteenth 1865-2022: The Pursuit of Economic Equality, by KHOU TV Anchor and Producer Mia Gradney, looks back at the meaning of Juneteenth and it’s origins in Southeast Texas.  With interviews and personal narratives from local historians and community activists this documentary gives a detailed history of the legacy of Juneteenth from the birthplace of the nation’s newly adopted holiday. 

The spirit of the holiday and the people who celebrate it are captured in this film which takes the viewer on an educational yet emotional journey into an important part of our nation’s history.
