The documentary, Juneteenth 1865-2022: The Pursuit of Economic Equality, by KHOU TV Anchor and Producer Mia Gradney, looks back at the meaning of Juneteenth and it’s origins in Southeast Texas. With interviews and personal narratives from local historians and community activists this documentary gives a detailed history of the legacy of Juneteenth from the birthplace of the nation’s newly adopted holiday.
The spirit of the holiday and the people who celebrate it are captured in this film which takes the viewer on an educational yet emotional journey into an important part of our nation’s history.
