Our film this month features a horrible event in 1988 but relates to women standing for their personal rights in Iran, today.  The film reveals the prison system and fears of what is possible today.   We have a speaker lined up to address the issues.

(This event will be an hybrid event with both virtual and at-the-church viewing.)

The timely documentary, The Secret Fatwa, by filmmaker Delnaz Abadi exposes the 1988 Secret Prison Massacre of more than 4000 political prisoners a massacre that continues to haunt the Islamic Republican of Iran today.   Combining survivor testimonies with re-enactments and archival footage the film peels away the layer of a secret that the Islamic Republic has tried to bury for decades.

This dramatized documentary, The Secret Fatwa hopes to bring awareness to this “secret” and to pose thought provoking questions about what went wrong in the 1979 Iranian Revolution, as well as a sense of hope that a new generation will be determined to keep seeking justice and putting an end to the culture of intolerance.
