While the summer’s protests were sparked by acts of state-sponsored brutality, they speak to a broader vision for a country where people can be safe, valued, and held.

With these protests, we are closer to that now than we’ve ever been before. The vision replaces police force to protect the interests of the few with care and community that uplifts everyone. It stops border apprehensions and deportations and welcomes immigrants with open arms. And it opens the door to address root causes of crime and migration, including our own destructive policies at home and abroad.

To truly invest in security for our communities, we must defund militarism, reclaim our resources, and invest in the public services and institutions that keep strengthen our communities and keep us safe. Voting has already started in the 2020 election, and the American people have made themselves clear: they want the next president to fill this nomination *after* inauguration. But Senate Republicans are rushing to confirm Barrett before then.

Their reasons are clear: just days after the election, the Supreme Court is set to hear a case that could decide the future of protections for people with preexisting conditions and our access to health care. We’ve already seen Trump calling for Barrett’s swift confirmation, so that he has three justices in his pocket if he decides to challenge the results of the election.

On Friday, we’ll go live here in this event with activists, advocates, and senators to talk about why this nomination must not move forward. Post your message for senators in the comments, and we’ll read them live on air during the rally.

Hosts: PFAW & Partners

Info: https://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2020/10/06/18837340.php

7. It’s our highest honor and how we as an Order canonize our (s)heros.

The Sisters are not a religious organization, and our organization is made up of people representing many religions, spiritual practices, and faiths.
