One of them spoke to witnesses who said that nothing out of the ordinary was happening before the cops arrived. That cop did not take the names and contact info for those two witnesses. They also failed to interview other bystanders.

The other cop spoke to a man who confirmed that there was no domestic violence happening which was the basis of the 911 call which brought the cops. And that witness saw Stengal beating Spiers immediately upon his arrival and without any provocation. This cop did get that witnesses name and number but failed to notify the sergeant in charge that she had this information (“my job was to deal with the domestic violence aspect, not to do anything about the beating.”) and did not put it in her statement that was attached to the police report.
