Correspondent&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/lesley-stahl-tv-news-has-shredded-credibility-trump-didnt-start-it-1593376\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lesley Stahl<\/a>&nbsp;discussed with the then-United Nations ambassador how Iraq had been suffering from the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/us-addicted-sanctions-do-they-work-opinion-1640923\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sanctions<\/a>&nbsp;placed on the country following 1991&#8217;s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/lessons-gulf-war-204266\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Gulf War<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We have heard that half a million [Iraqi] children have died. He said, &#8220;Some people remember Madeleine Albright said in 1996 it was &#8216;worth it&#8217; for sanctions to kill 500,000 Iraqi children.
