Thank you for writing to share your support for a national health insurance program, often known as Medicare for All. I appreciate hearing from you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Access to affordable and high-quality health care should be available to everyone in this country. Unfortunately, millions of Americans struggle to afford their prescriptions drugs and millions are unable to afford needed medical care. We must do better to ensure that no one is forced to choose between putting food on the table and paying for necessary medical services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That is why I am a proud original cosponsor of the \u201cMedicare for All Act of 2022\u201d (S. 4204), introduced by Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT). This legislation would create a national health insurance program that guarantees health insurance for every resident in the United States. This bill is currently awaiting consideration by the Senate Committee on Finance, of which I am not a member.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the richest country in the world, it is unacceptable that families can go bankrupt paying for medications or getting treatment when sick. Please know that I will continue to support this critically important piece of legislation and ensure that every Californian has access to high-quality, affordable health care. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
