The developer, CH Planning LLC, promised&nbsp;712 apartments of varying size in the April design, with the rest of the tower being dedicated to&nbsp;retail spaces, a 212-car basement and bicycle parking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CH Planning LLC&#8217;s most recent proposal, first published in SF Yimby, would have 680 units of housing.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"540\" height=\"314\" src=\"https:\/\/occupysf.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/image-16.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27245\" srcset=\"https:\/\/occupysf.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/image-16.png 540w, https:\/\/occupysf.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/image-16-300x174.png 300w, https:\/\/occupysf.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/image-16-150x87.png 150w, https:\/\/occupysf.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/image-16-250x145.png 250w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The proposed tower at\u00a02700 Sloat Blvd would stand 589 feet tall, and would overlook the Pacific Ocean.Illustration by Solomon Cordwell Buenz<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The second skyscraper would be constructed at 636 Fourth St. just across from the San Francisco Caltrain Station, and would offer at least 520 apartments along with space for\u00a0130 cars and 231 bicycles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"540\" height=\"326\" src=\"https:\/\/occupysf.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/image-15.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27243\" srcset=\"https:\/\/occupysf.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/image-15.png 540w, https:\/\/occupysf.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/image-15-300x181.png 300w, https:\/\/occupysf.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/image-15-150x91.png 150w, https:\/\/occupysf.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/image-15-248x150.png 248w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The tower proposed to be built on Fourth Street would stand 517 feet tall, and would include at least 87 affordable homes.Illustrations by Solomon Cordwell Buenz<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite the progress the towers would make in The City&#8217;s goal to construct&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/offer%20%20https\/\/www.sfexaminer.com\/news\/housing\/san-francisco-finalizes-plans-for-82000-new-homes-by-2031\/article_f6bfaeaa-98f9-11ed-9694-8b8a23f1e687.html\" target=\"_blank\">82,000 new units of housing<\/a>&nbsp;by 2031, residents and officials have voiced various concerns about construction projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the 50-story Outer Sunset tower was first proposed in April, the San Francisco Planning Department objected to the project&#8217;s bulk, prompting a back-and-forth over the project&#8217;s size and cost between the department and CH Planning LLC. SF Yimby reported that, in the latest filing, city staff contended the tower was 316% taller than base zoning allows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just last week, the Board of Supervisors&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfexaminer.com\/news\/housing\/nob-hill-housing-project-delayed-by-neighbors-shadow-cover\/article_3f6331ac-15f2-11ee-84f4-ab501b95c954.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">killed a plan to convert<\/a>&nbsp;a single-family Nob Hill home into 10 townhomes due to concerns that the proposed projects&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sfgov.legistar.com\/View.ashx?M=F&amp;ID=12119343&amp;GUID=3EB0A554-CFD7-46F1-B102-9320AA0FC4D3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">would cast too large of a shadow<\/a>&nbsp;over a nearby recreation center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Newly released federal housing data shows The City permitted&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfexaminer.com\/news\/housing\/sf-housing-approval-permits-surge-in-may-but-red-flags-remain\/article_fde100f0-1b79-11ee-b9a8-47f2795e974a.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">just 81 units of new housing<\/a>&nbsp;through the first five months of 2023, meaning San Francisco is off to its slowest start in approving new homes since the Great Recession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfexaminer.com\/users\/profile\/Andrew%20Fortin-Caldera\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bloximages.chicago2.vip.townnews.com\/sfexaminer.com\/content\/tncms\/avatars\/5\/18\/3b0\/5183b0c8-69c2-11ed-89b4-bf23c2ff93c4.f9927aea3931ef44588042af80bc5c5d.png?_dc=1674084096\" alt=\"Andrew Fortin-Caldera\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfexaminer.com\/users\/profile\/Andrew%20Fortin-Caldera\">Andrew Fortin-Caldera<\/a><\/h4>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Designs have been revealed for a pair of residential skyscrapers proposed for construction in San Francisco, but both towers face long odds of being added to the&nbsp;The City&#8217;s skyline.
