Many of you have probably already received your ballots.\u00a0We’d like\u00a0to invite you to check\u00a0out this list of endorsements\/explanations from the\u00a0San Francisco Berniecrats\u2019 trilingual voter guide<\/a>,\u00a0<\/strong>which is printed in\u00a0Spanish, Chinese, and English.\u00a0<\/strong>Like the SF Education Alliance,\u00a0SF Berniecrats<\/a>\u00a0is a\u00a0Our Revolution<\/a>\u00a0affiliate.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to defeat the billionaire money pouring into this election, we need volunteers to hand out trilingual voter guides in front of your schools, outside your CCSF and SF State campus buildings, at farmers markets, Muni stops and at BART stations.<\/u> Please sign up to had out guides by emailing us at info@sfeducationalliance.com<\/a>. <\/strong>We will deliver them to you and try to find an SF Education Alliance volunteer who can join you in handing them out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/a>County Central Committee Candidates are\u00a0on the Ballot.\u00a0What Do They Do?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are a registered Democrat, your ballot will list candidates for the San Francisco Democratic County Central Committee (DCCC), which is a group of elected party leaders who set the local policy agenda, endorse candidates and measures that align with the values of the Democratic Party, and engage our communities by organizing and registering people to vote.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Question: Why is this imporant? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Answer: Endorsements from the San Francisco Democratic Party can make the difference on whether or not progressive candidates and ballot measures win or lose<\/u>. <\/strong>So, it’s a big deal!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On March 5, 2024, all 24 seats on the San Francisco DCCC are up for election! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our Revolution<\/a>, our parent organization, has joined SF Berniecrats in endorsing the Labor and Working Families slate of candidates running for seats on the Democratic County Central Committee<\/a>. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

SF Politics 101: What Does the Democratic County Central Committee <\/strong>Have to Do with Public Education?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quite a bit, actually! In addition to making endorsements for school board and CCSF Board of Trustees, the DCCC votes on resolutions.<\/strong> In October 2023, SF Education Alliance members wrote a resolution opposing school closures and consolidations<\/a> that was voted on and passed nearly unanimously by the San Francisco Democratic County Central Committee (DCCC) and sent to the SFUSD Superintendent Matt Wayne and the Board of Education. A number of the sponsors of that resolution are running for re-election against a slate of candidates who would love nothing better than to advocate to close our children\u2019s schools and community college campuses and sell the land to developers to build luxury condos. We can’t let them win!<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two DCCC candidates are members of the CCSF Board of Trustees (Vice President Anita Martinez and Trustee Vick Chung). Former SF Board of Education President Sandra Lee Fewer is running, as is Leah LaCroix, who is the former chair of the San Francisco Youth Commission. Our Courts Need Fair, Impartial Judges, not Tough-on-Crime Judges<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Judge Michael Begert and Judge Patrick Thompson, two fair, impartial judges running against two tough-on-crime candidates. Black History Month: SF Ed Alliance Endorses Congressman Jamaal Bowman\u2019s Equity or Else Resolution<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Congressman Jamaal Bowman\u2019s office invited the SF Education Alliance to be an endorsing organization for his Equity or Else Resolution<\/a>, and we proudly signed on. <\/strong>This legislation celebrates and uplifts the values of the Equity or Else quality-of-life platform<\/a> as essential components to changing the belief systems both within and outside of our governmental bodies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Congressman Bowman held a press conference on January 31, the eve of Black History Month, to celebrate the rich history, culture, and long struggle for justice created and experienced by Black Americans.
