(Photo: Zuma Press)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>07 april 24<\/strong> (RSN.org)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hamas has said that it will not \u201cback down\u201d from its ceasefire demands as it confirmed that it will be sending a delegation to Cairo tomorrow for fresh peace talks aiming at bringing an end to the war on its six-month anniversary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHamas confirms its adherence to the position it presented on March 14 &#8230; and we will not back down from this position,\u201d a statement said. \u201cThe demands &#8230; are a complete ceasefire, withdrawal of the occupation forces from Gaza, the return of the displaced to their residential areas, freedom of movement of the people, offering them aid and shelter, and a serious hostage exchange deal,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Israel was undecided on whether to attend, according to an Israeli official, citing concern that the event would be \u201cmore political theatre than actual progress\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>US President Joe Biden earlier penned a letter to the leaders of Egypt and Qatar calling on them to up the pressure on Hamas to \u201cagree to and abide by a deal\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the most recent proposal, Israel and Hamas would agree to a six-week ceasefire in exchange for the release of sick, elderly and wounded hostages held by Hamas.
