RUSSIA CONDUCTED MASSIVE SOA EXERCISE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n October 30, 2024<\/p>\n\n\n\n On October 29, 2024 Vladimir Putin, Russian President and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Armed Forces supervised a training exercise that involved national Strategic Offensive Arms or SOA deployed on the ground, at sea and in the air \u2013 widely known as strategic nuclear triad. He operated the pre-planned drill from the Presidential Situation Center. The practical launches were directed from the National Defence Control Centre of the Russian Federation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n During the drill, practical launches of both ballistic and cruise missiles were performed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A Yars ICBM was launched from the Plesetsk testing ground, targeting the Kura training area located in Kamchatka. Sineva and Bulava SLBMs were launched from the nuclear-powered SSBN Novomoskovsk in the Barents Sea and from the nuclear-powered submarine Knyaz Oleg in the Sea of Okhotsk. Additionally, Tu-95MC heavy strategic bombers participated in the training, firing air-launched cruise missiles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The level of preparedness of military command structures as well as managing the troops and forces under their command were assessed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The tasks set for the training of the nuclear strategic deterrence forces were fully accomplished, with all missiles successfully hitting their designated targets, thus confirming their technical characteristics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The President underlined that Russia reaffirms its principled stance that the use of nuclear weapons is \u201can extreme and exceptional measure\u201d<\/strong> aimed at ensuring state security. He added that Russia\u2019s strategic nuclear triad remains a solid pillar of the country\u2019s sovereignty and security, enables it to achieve strategic deterrence objectives and uphold nuclear parity and the balance of power globally, which are key factors underpinning global stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Putin also observed that: \u201cIn light of escalating geopolitical tensions and the emergence of new external threats and risks, it is imperative for us to have modern strategic forces that are in a state of constant combat readiness<\/strong>. We shall continue to enhance all their components, as we possess the necessary resources to do so.
