Photo: Jim Watson\/AFP via Getty Images<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The White House has launched a new&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2020\/07\/21\/matt-drudge-report-traffic-book\">Drudge Report<\/a>-like&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/wire\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">website<\/a>&nbsp;devoted to promoting pro-Trump news stories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why it matters:<\/strong>&nbsp;The site, called White House Wire, represents the administration&#8217;s latest effort to circumvent the mainstream media and present itself in a positive light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/politics-policy\/donald-trump\">Trump<\/a>&nbsp;administration has&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2025\/04\/25\/leavitt-defends-white-house-press-restrictions\">ruffled the feathers<\/a>&nbsp;of establishment media giants by inviting Trump-friendly outlets and personalities into the White House briefing room.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It also has punished mainstream outlets whose coverage it doesn&#8217;t approve of \u2014&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2025\/02\/25\/white-house-trump-press-pool\">most notably AP<\/a>, whose access it curtailed after the outlet refused to start referring to the &#8220;Gulf of Mexico&#8221; as the &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2025\/02\/18\/trump-gulf-of-mexico-associated-press\">Gulf of America<\/a>&#8221; in its coverage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Driving the news:&nbsp;<\/strong>The White House Wire, which has the url link WH.gov\/wire, presents columns of links that send readers to articles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;THE MOST SUCCESSFUL FIRST 100 DAYS IN PRESIDENTIAL HISTORY,&#8221; the site&#8217;s headline blared on Tuesday evening, linking to a Fox News&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/trump-touts-most-successful-first-100-days-presidential-history-during-michigan-rally\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">article<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#8220;24\/7 FORTY-SEVEN,&#8221; read a ticker on the site.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#8220;Border shutdown tops list of Trump&#8217;s successes at 100 days,&#8221; said one headline that&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2025\/apr\/28\/border-shutdown-tops-list-trumps-successes-100-days\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">linked<\/a>&nbsp;to a Washington Times story.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#8220;The President&#8217;s First 100 Days Is a Return to American Greatness,&#8221; said one that linked to a Newsweek&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/presidents-first-100-days-return-american-greatness-opinion-2065355\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">op-ed<\/a>&nbsp;authored by Republican Sen. Roger Marshall of Kansas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Another&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/video\/trump-talks-incredible-oval-office-pushes-back-economic-121298288\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">linked<\/a>&nbsp;to Trump&#8217;s interview this week with ABC News.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The intrigue:<\/strong>&nbsp;The website looks similar to the Drudge Report, the popular political website that also serves as a bulletin board for links.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>The Drudge Report was once known as a conservative-friendly platform \u2014 it rose to fame in the 1990s for breaking the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2018\/06\/04\/bill-clinton-monica-lewinsky-me-too-movement\">Bill Clinton<\/a>-Monica Lewinsky scandal \u2014 but it has been critical of Trump in recent years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What they&#8217;re saying:&nbsp;<\/strong>A White House official said the site serves a key strategic purpose: To give pro-Trump influencers a central hub to disseminate Trump-favorable coverage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;It&#8217;s a place for supporters of the president&#8217;s agenda to get the real news all in one place in a shareable and readable format,&#8221; the official said.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#8220;The website will be a one-stop shop for news and is part of the Trump administration&#8217;s effort to provide transparency and institute policies that put America first,&#8221; they added.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Matt Drudge<\/strong>, the creator\/editor of the Drudge Report, plastered his site with the news of the White House&#8217;s site. &#8220;IT TAKES AN ENTIRE WEST WING TO COMPETE WITH DRUDGE&#8221; he wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>He later joked to Axios:&nbsp;<strong>&#8220;<\/strong>I&#8217;m considering a $1 trillion lawsuit!&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>This story has been updated with reaction from Matt Drudge.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Go deeper:&nbsp;<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2025\/04\/25\/axios-interview-inside-the-briefing-room-pm\">Axios interview: Inside the briefing room<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The White House has launched a new&nbsp;Drudge Report-like&nbsp;website&nbsp;devoted to promoting pro-Trump news stories.
