Yesterday, I spoke to you with clarity, compassion, and a call to action about the catastrophe unfolding in Gaza \u2014 where millions face starvation.<\/strong> I had planned to write today about the upcoming Senate budget fight, but I cannot stay silent after what happened at the United Nations yesterday evening after my post came out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am outraged. I am devastated. And I am ashamed.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

While children in Gaza are grinding animal feed into flour \u00b9,<\/em> while families are drinking from sewage-contaminated water just to survive<\/em>, the United States \u2014 under the disgraceful influence of 34-time convicted felon, President Trump, who is pretending to lead \u2014 voted <\/strong>against<\/strong><\/em> a ceasefire. The United States was the only Security Council member to block a ceasefire. Not China, Not Russia. Only the United States. <\/strong>\u00b2<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let that sink in.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The world stood together and said: Enough.<\/em> Enough killing. Enough starvation. Enough war crimes. The international community demanded an end to the violence, the unconditional release of hostages, and full, unimpeded humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the United States blocked it.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe world is watching, day after day, horrifying scenes of Palestinians being shot, wounded, or killed in Gaza while simply trying to eat,\u201d \u2014 U.N. Humanitarian Chief Tom Fletcher <\/em>\u00b3<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis resolution reflects a global consensus: The war in Gaza must stop, hostages must be released, and civilians must not be starved\u201d \u2014 Joint statement from 10 nonpermanent Security Council members <\/em>\u2074<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Yet, instead of stepping up, the U.S. chose to step back. Instead of standing for human rights, we stood in the way<\/em> of justice. And for what? Political convenience? Cowardice? Complicity?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s be clear about what\u2019s happening:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a man-made famine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Funded by our U.S. tax dollars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The active support and silence of our government are enabling it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Israel is using starvation, siege, and mass murder<\/strong> as weapons of war \u2014 and we the United States are enabling it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is no policy rationale, no strategic justification for cutting off food, fuel, and medicine<\/strong> from 2.3 million people<\/em>. \u2075 None.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 58,000 Palestinians have already been killed<\/strong><\/em>. <\/strong>\u2076 And now famine is being used to finish what airstrikes and bombs started. This is not about security \u2014 it\u2019s about collective punishment.<\/strong> It\u2019s about dehumanization on a massive scale.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And what did the United States just do?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u274c Voted against<\/em> an immediate and unconditional ceasefire<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u274c Voted against<\/em> restoring desperately needed humanitarian aid<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u274c Voted against<\/em> saving lives<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a stain on our country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We cannot claim to be defenders of human rights while bankrolling the slow destruction of a trapped, starving civilian population.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

But there is a spark of hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This week, the Block the Bombs Act<\/strong> was introduced \u2014 a critical step toward halting the flow of offensive weapons to Israel and demanding real accountability for the use of American arms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Raise your voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Demand humanity.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The world is watching. History is watching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
