How does one fight illegal<\/a> National Guard deployments, the kidnapping<\/a> of immigrants, and creeping fascism? Well, if you\u2019re a mainstream Democrat, there seems to be only one strategy \u2013 sternly-worded letters and weak press conferences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At least, that\u2019s how it seems to people like AOC\u2019s former chief of staff Saikat Chakrabarti<\/strong>, who is challenging<\/a> former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for her seat in Congress. He joins Mehdi on this week\u2019s episode of \u2018Mehdi Unfiltered.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShe [Pelosi] has this style of politics that I think is completely out of step with what actually needs to happen today,\u201d <\/strong>Chakrabarti tells Mehdi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this interview, Mehdi<\/strong> asks Chakrabarti \u2013 the co-founder of Justice Democrats \u2013 why he believes Pelosi\u2019s response to Democrats\u2019 loss last November was, \u201ccompletely insufficient.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chakrabarti also takes aim at Democrats\u2019 current House Leader Hakeem Jeffries, with Mehdi asking the former Hill staffer whether Jeffries needs a primary challenger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re not going to win unless we completely change who the party is,\u201d <\/strong>Chakrabarti says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
