Bad Bunny hasn\u2019t even hit the Levi\u2019s Stadium stage yet, but as debate over his upcoming Super Bowl LX performance continues, one organization plans to make a bold statement at the South Bay venue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Public policy advocacy group MoveOn Civic Action has commissioned a banner that reads \u201cNo ICE at 2026 Super Bowl\u201d to fly over the venue on Sunday, Nov. 9, before the San Francisco 49ers faceoff against the Los Angeles Rams. It\u2019s scheduled to be in the air from 10:25 a.m. to 12:25 p.m. The Niners\u2019 home game is scheduled to begin at 1:25 p.m. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The move comes amid heated discourse around Bad Bunny\u2019s halftime show appearance, which some conservatives \u2014 including\u00a0President Donald Trump<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 claim is unpatriotic. From the moment his selection was announced by the NFL in September, critics began disparaging the Grammy-winner\u2019s Puerto Rican heritage (despite the island being a U.S. territory), his Spanish-language music and his political stances on topics such as LGBTQ+ rights, the Trump administration and immigration.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The artist\u2019s past remarks about skipping the U.S. during his \u201cDeb\u00ed Tirar M\u00e1s Fotos\u201d tour out of fear for his Latino fans then resurfaced, prompting Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to declare that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents would be \u201call over the Super Bowl.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response, MoveOn launched a petition in an effort to prevent ICE officers from showing up for the big game. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is completely unacceptable,\u201d the petition<\/a>, launched on Oct. 7, reads. \u201cWe cannot let ICE terrorize our communities and our families at the largest single sporting event in the U.S.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of the evening of Friday, Nov. 7, it has earned more than 82,000 signatures.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MoveOn\u2019s Sunday banner will also link to the petition<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, a petition<\/a> to replace Bad Bunny with the \u201cKing of Country\u201d George Strait, launched Oct. 1, continues to gain momentum As of Friday night, it has earned more than 109,000 signatures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Virginia resident Kar Shell, who launched the effort, justified his argument by asserting that \u201cThe Super Bowl halftime show should unite our country, honor American culture, and remain family-friendly, not be turned into a political stunt.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nonetheless, the NFL and Jay-Z, who selected Bad Bunny along with Roc Nation and the city of Santa Clara, have doubled down on their support<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, Santa Clara Mayor Lisa Gillmor told the Chronicle last month that \u201cwe want to make sure that we protect everybody that comes to Santa Clara,\u201d emphasizing that \u201cthis is an inclusive event.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
