About 200 protesters, many in colorful costumes, mobilized through San Francisco\u2019s wealthy Pacific Heights neighborhood Saturday as part of a \u201cPeople Over Billionaires\u201d day of action. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The group, consisting of members of labor and community organizations, denounced corporate tax breaks and immigration crackdowns during a march targeting the neighborhood of Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, a donor to President Donald Trump as well as Democrats; David Sacks, Trump\u2019s artificial intelligence and crypto czar; and Shaun Maguire, an adviser to the White House\u2019s Department of Government Efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The protesters, who assembled at noon at Alta Plaza Park at Jackson and Scott streets, emphasized a \u201cpeople first\u201d agenda that includes taxing the rich, addressing the affordability crisis, protecting immigrant and worker rights, combating climate change and building unity across diverse communities. The group highlighted the income inequality between the wealthiest Americans and the vast majority of the U.S. population, known as the 99%. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe want to tax the rich, and we want billionaires to pay what they owe,\u201d said Anya Svanoe, a spokesperson for the Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment, a community organization committed to tenant rights and other causes. \u201cWe want to use that money to create a world where everyone can thrive.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Protesters, who stopped traffic at some intersections, chanted, \u201cStand up, fight back,\u201d and hoisted placards reading: \u201cResist\u201d and \u201cLet\u2019s stop these money grabbing maniacs from wrecking our world!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accompanied by a rousing band with drums, horns and whistles, marchers paused outside Ellison\u2019s home and did a line dance outside Sacks\u2019 house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saturday\u2019s mobilization was emboldened by California voters\u2019 passage this month of Proposition 50<\/a>, which redraws congressional districts in an effort to flip GOP seats during the 2026 midterms, plus No Kings protests in June<\/a> and October<\/a>, which drew millions of marchers nationwide. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe need to stand up for federal workers in particular and the working class,\u201d Eileen Tutt, a retired state worker from Oakland concerned with climate change, said as she gripped a \u201cFight the Oligarchy\u201d sign. \u201cI feel like workers in general are under attack by this current administration. The capitalist system is harming workers, and this administration has embraced the oligarchy.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPeople Over Billionaires\u201d marches were also planned Saturday in Los Angeles and San Diego, but they were postponed to Dec. 6 due to rainstorms. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
