Renee Good<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Minneapolis yesterday, and ICE agent shot and killed Renee Good, a 37-year-old mother of three. The shooting occurred on a residential street in south Minneapolis (less than a mile from where George Floyd was killed by police in 2020).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump claimed that Ms. Good \u201cviolently, willfully, and viciously ran over\u201d the ICE agent. Kristi Noem claimed that \u201cour officers were out trying to get a car stuck out of the snow when they were surrounded and assaulted and blocked in by protesters.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several videos taken from different angles (see, for example, here<\/a>) and several analyses of the videos (see here<\/a>) make it clear that Trump\u2019s and Noem\u2019s descriptions of what occurred are blatant lies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to an eyewitness<\/a>, ICE agents yelled contradictory instructions at Good \u2014 one telling her to leave and then, as she complied, another tried to open her door and told her to get out, while a third shot her in the face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As horrific as this murder is, Trump and his regime\u2019s response has been almost as chilling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump accused Good of being a \u201cprofessional agitator\u201d and blamed the tragedy on \u201cthe Radical Left Movement of Violence and Hate.\u201d Noem accused Good of being engaged in \u201can act of domestic terrorism.\u201d JD Vance called her \u201cpart of a broader left-wing network\u201d and said the killing was \u201ca tragedy of her own making and a tragedy of the far left.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I don\u2019t know Renee Good\u2019s politics. But why would her political leanings be relevant to her murder? Are Trump and his sycophants suggesting that it\u2019s okay for federal agents to murder someone based on their political beliefs?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minnesota\u2019s investigators have been told by the FBI that they will not be allowed to investigate; only the FBI will investigate. As Governor Tim Walz noted, it will be \u201cvery difficult for Minnesotans to think in any way this is going to be fair when Kristi Noem is judge, jury, and basically executioner.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A cold-blooded murder was committed inside the United States by an agent of the United States federal government acting under the authority of Donald Trump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That is cause for deep concern by us all \u2014 right and left, Democrat and Republican.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During a conversation with the New York Times<\/em> that was reported today, Trump said \u201cthe only thing that can stop me\u201d is \u201cmy own morality. My own mind.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump was responding to a question about checks on his power to attack nations around the world. But his response is increasingly relevant to his power domestically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
