Good was acting as a legal observer,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/nation\/2026\/01\/07\/renee-nicole-good-minneapolis-ice-shooting\/88073771007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according to<\/a>&nbsp;Rep.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/tag\/ilhan-omar\">Ilhan Omar<\/a>&nbsp;(D-Minn.), monitoring ICE actions following the Trump administration\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/newshour\/politics\/2000-federal-agents-sent-to-minneapolis-area-to-carry-out-largest-immigration-operation-ever-ice-says\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">surge<\/a>&nbsp;of federal agents into Minnesota, in part to target members of the Somali community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/news\/minneapolis-ice-shooting-video\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Footage<\/a>&nbsp;of the shooting shows an officer trying to open the car door and the driver turning the wheel before starting to drive forward. An agent who had approached the driver-side bumper draws his gun and shoots the driver multiple times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite what is shown in the widely available video,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/news\/trump-minneapolis-ice-shooting\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">President Donald Trump<\/a>, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, and Vice President&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JDVance\/status\/2009089769469538404\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">JD Vance<\/a>&nbsp;were quick to place blame on Good. Trump said she \u201cviolently, willfully, and viciously ran over\u201d the ICE agent, while Noem&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/CalltoActivism\/status\/2008991499950936304\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a>&nbsp;Good had committed an \u201cact of domestic terrorism.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pressley called on the congressional committee to investigate the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSince this committee is responsible for oversight of federal law enforcement, we must investigate,\u201d she said. \u201cThis subpoena will get to the truth, and it should have bipartisan support.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">BREAKING: ICE killed a Minnesota woman in broad daylight &amp; there must be accountability.<br><br>But when I moved to subpoena all records &amp; footage related to this murder, Republicans voted it down.<br><br>They&#39;ve never cared about law &amp; order or keeping our communities safe.<br><br>My heart is\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/00ocmZbKMA\">pic.twitter.com\/00ocmZbKMA<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley (@RepPressley) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepPressley\/status\/2009057976670196057?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 8, 2026<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pressley condemned her&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/tag\/gop\">GOP<\/a>&nbsp;colleagues for blocking the effort to get to the bottom of what happened in Minneapolis, which has also been described by multiple&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox9.com\/news\/minneapolis-ice-shooting-witnesses\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">eyewitnesses<\/a>&nbsp;who dispute the Trump administration\u2019s narrative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDHS\u2019 claim that an agent shot in self-defense is a bold-faced lie and the video footage is damning,\u201d&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/pressley.house.gov\/2026\/01\/07\/breaking-pressley-condemns-ice-murder-in-minnesota-slams-gop-for-blocking-her-subpoena-for-records-footage-related-to-shooting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a>&nbsp;Pressley. \u201cBut after I moved to subpoena all records and footage related to this killing,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/tag\/republicans\">Republicans<\/a>&nbsp;shamefully voted it down\u2014demonstrating once again that they have never cared about law and order or keeping our communities safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhat happened today is a despicable consequence of Donald Trump\u2019s campaign of terror, fear, and demonization of vulnerable communities and we cannot allow it to be normalized in America,\u201d said Pressley. \u201cI demand a thorough and independent investigation into this tragedy so the victim, her loved ones, and the public get the accountability and transparency they deserve.
