Oversight Democrats can confirm that the DOJ appears to have illegally withheld&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/tag\/fbi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FBI<\/a>&nbsp;interviews with this survivor who accused President Trump of heinous crimes,\u201d he continued. \u201cOversight Democrats will open a parallel investigation into this.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cUnder the Oversight Committee\u2019s subpoena and the Epstein Files Transparency Act, these records must immediately be shared with Congress and the American public,\u201d Garcia added. \u201cCovering up direct evidence of a potential assault by the president of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/tag\/united-states\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">United States<\/a>&nbsp;is the most serious possible crime in this&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/tag\/white-house\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">White House<\/a>&nbsp;cover-up.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>https:\/\/embed.bsky.app\/embed\/did:plc:gou6onm5jvccxt3i7ywvs7mr\/app.bsky.feed.post\/3mfn7brknr22s?id=5974344466051598&#038;ref_url=https%253A%252F%252Ftherealnews.com%252Fdoj-withholding-epstein-files-trump-child-sex-assault<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/tag\/trump-administration\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Trump administration<\/a>&nbsp;is&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/news\/epstein-survivors-trump-doj\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">accused<\/a>&nbsp;of continuously flouting the Epstein Files Transparency Act\u2014which mandated that all materials related to convicted child sex criminal and longtime former Trump friend Jeffrey Epstein be released by December 19. But critically, the law&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/news\/epstein-files-redacted-national-security\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">gives<\/a>&nbsp;Attorney General&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/tag\/pam-bondi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pam Bondi<\/a>&nbsp;wide discretion to redact large amounts of information that could harm \u201cnational security.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Files on Epstein\u2014who died under mysterious circumstances in a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/tag\/new-york-city\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">New York City<\/a>&nbsp;jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges\u2014that have not been released to the public despite the transparency law \u201cinclude what appears to be more than 50 pages of FBI interviews, and notes from conversations with a woman who accused Trump of sexual abuse decades ago when she was a minor,\u201d&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/tag\/npr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NPR<\/a><\/em>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2026\/02\/24\/nx-s1-5723968\/epstein-files-trump-accusation-maxwell\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>&nbsp;Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That minor was allegedly introduced to Trump around 1983, when she was 13 years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c[REDACTED] stated Epstein introduced her to Trump, who subsequently forced her head down to his exposed penis which she subsequently bit,\u201d a DOJ file on the alleged incident states. \u201cIn response, Trump punched her in the head and kicked her out.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The child is one of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/women-accused-trump-sexual-misconduct-list-2017-12#ivana-trump-2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">more than two dozen women<\/a>&nbsp;who have accused Trump of raping, sexually assaulting, or sexually harassing them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2023, a civil jury in New York City&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/news\/trump-carroll-verdict\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">found Trump civilly liable<\/a>&nbsp;for sexually abusing and defaming journalist&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/tag\/e-jean-carroll\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">E. Jean Carroll<\/a>&nbsp;and awarded her $5 million. In a separate defamation trial, Trump was ordered to pay Carroll another $83.3 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump, who denies any wrongdoing, is challenging these civil awards. Trump also denies an&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.slideshare.net\/slideshow\/katie-johnson-civil-case-for-rape-trump-epsteinpdf\/257375882\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">allegation<\/a>&nbsp;that he and Epstein \u201cbrutally raped\u201d a 13-year-old girl identified by the pseudonym \u201cKatie Johnson\u201d at a 1994 party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As&nbsp;<em>NPR<\/em>&nbsp;reported Tuesday:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>Other files scrubbed from public view pertain to a separate woman who was a key witness for the prosecution in the criminal trial of Epstein\u2019s co-conspirator, Ghislaine Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year prison sentence for sex trafficking. Maxwell is seeking clemency from Trump. Some of those documents were briefly taken down and put back online last week, while others remain hidden, according to<em>&nbsp;NPR<\/em>\u2018s comparison of the initial dataset from January 30 with document metadata of those files currently on the Justice Department website.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this month, Rep.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/tag\/jamie-raskin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jamie Raskin<\/a>&nbsp;(D-Md.)&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2026\/02\/10\/trump-epstein-files-jamie-raskin-unredacted\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a>&nbsp;that the unreacted Epstein files, which he had viewed, contained \u201cmore than million\u201d references to Trump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Robert Glassman, an attorney representing a woman who testified against Maxwell, blasted the DOJ for its \u201cridiculous\u201d handling of the Epstein files.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe DOJ was ordered to release information to the public to be transparent about Epstein and Maxwell\u2019s criminal enterprise network,\u201d he told&nbsp;<em>NPR<\/em>. \u201cInstead, they&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/02\/01\/us\/nude-photos-epstein-files.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">released the names<\/a>&nbsp;of courageous victims who have fought hard for decades to remain anonymous and out of the limelight. Whether the disclosures were inadvertent or not\u2014they had one job to do here and they didn\u2019t do it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Responding to the&nbsp;<em>NPR<\/em>&nbsp;report, Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.)&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/tedlieu\/status\/2026318554514051578\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a>&nbsp;on X, \u201cI guarantee if these files exonerated Trump, they would have been released,\u201d adding that Bondi \u201cmust resign, and she must be prosecuted.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/tag\/democratic-national-committee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Democratic National Committee<\/a>&nbsp;Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer released a statement Tuesday asserting that \u201cDonald Trump continues to lie about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, while his administration works overtime to hide the truth about Epstein\u2019s heinous crimes from the American people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTonight at the State of the Union, Trump will be in the same room as survivors of Epstein\u2019s crimes, whom he has denied transparency and justice,\u201d Witmer added. \u201cHe and his administration must be held accountable for protecting pedophiles.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Democratic lawmakers including Garcia, Raskin, and Senate Minority Leader&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/tag\/chuck-schumer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chuck Schumer<\/a>&nbsp;(D-NY) have invited Epstein survivors as guests to Tuesday night\u2019s speech by Trump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elisa Batista, campaign director at the advocacy group UltraViolet Action, said in a statement Tuesday that we are in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/tag\/solidarity\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">solidarity<\/a>&nbsp;with the courageous survivors showing up in defiance of Trump\u2019s attempts to change the conversation at the State of the Union tonight.\u201c<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Batista continued:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>Their bravery represents the will of millions of Americans who are demanding accountability not just for all those who enabled Jeffrey Epstein, but also for public officials like Attorney General Pam Bondi who continue to protect those abusers and enablers by refusing to release all of the Epstein files.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When it comes to the Epstein class, the real state of the union remains unchanged: These powerful abusers and enablers believe they will be shielded by their wealth, networks, or influence.
