Even former Vice President Kamala Harris<\/a> reportedly \u201chas no problem with a public airing\u201d of the Democratic National Committee\u2019s internal \u201cautopsy\u201d report on her 2024 loss to Republican President Donald Trump\u2014which the DNC<\/a> has continued<\/a> to conceal, despite mounting demands for transparency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Harris\u2019 position was reported<\/a> Thursday by NBC News, which noted that \u201cwhile she indicated to donors that she had no issue with releasing it, Harris has not discussed the postmortem with DNC Chairman Ken Martin and did not know about his decision to keep it under wraps until it happened.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NBC cited \u201ca person who has heard the conversations,\u201d one of multiple sources journalists Jonathan Allen and Natasha Korecki spoke with for their broader report exploring \u201cturmoil over the Democratic Party\u2019s future\u201d and Harris\u2019 consideration of a 2028 run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For months, Martin has resisted<\/a> pressure to release the autopsy\u2014which, as Axios revealed<\/a> in February, found that the Biden administration\u2019s support for Israel\u2019s genocidal assault on Palestinians<\/a> in the Gaza<\/a> Strip contributed to Harris\u2019 defeat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Citing a \u201cperson close to Harris,\u201d NBC also reported Thursday that the former VP \u201cis signaling privately that she has more to say about the Middle East now that she is freed from the Biden White House<\/a> policy,\u201d and \u201cshe is likely to do so after the midterm elections<\/a>,\u201d either \u201cfrom the perspective of a party elder or from the perspective of a candidate seeking votes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While touring the country for the book she wrote after her loss, Harris has publicly acknowledged that she is weighing another White House run. Though the 2028 election is two and a half years away, she has led<\/a> early polling. However, the party\u2019s potential primary field is incredibly crowded<\/a>, featuring dozens of current or former governors and members of Congress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Potential contenders include governors from the Trump 2.0 era\u2014such as\u00a0Gavin Newsom<\/a>\u00a0of California, JB Pritzker of Illinois, Andy Beshear of Kentucky, and\u00a0Gretchen Whitmer<\/a>\u00a0of Michigan\u2014as well as leading progressive voices in Congress, such as Reps.\u00a0Ro Khanna<\/a>\u00a0(D-Calif.) and\u00a0Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez<\/a>\u00a0(D-NY).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Norman Solomon<\/a>, national director of RootsAction, which has spearheaded<\/a> calls for publishing the full postmortem, wrote<\/a> in a recent opinion piece for Common Dreams that \u201cMartin\u2019s concealment of the autopsy report puts a thumb on the scale for one candidate: Kamala Harris<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Solomon highlighted the DNC\u2019s reported conclusion about the role of the Gaza<\/a> genocide<\/a> in the election result, and suggested that \u201crenewed attention to the Harris 2024 finances would also be unwelcome.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response to Harris\u2019 reported remarks to donors, Solomon said Thursday that \u201cmore than four months have passed since Martin announced he was reneging on his promise to release the autopsy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
