Jones<\/strong>, the lawyer and speechwriter for Dr.&nbsp;<strong>Martin Luther King Jr.<\/strong>, has been acquired by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/netflix\/\">Netflix<\/a>,&nbsp;<em>The Hollywood Reporter<\/em>&nbsp;has learned. It will drop on the service later this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Co-directed by two-time Oscar winner\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/ben-proudfoot\/\">Ben Proudfoot<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0(2021\u2019s\u00a0<em>The Queen of Basketball<\/em>\u00a0and 2023\u2019s\u00a0<em>The Last Repair Shop<\/em>) and, in his directorial debut, NBA great\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/stephen-curry\/\">Stephen Curry<\/a><\/strong>, the 29-minute film\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/news\/general-news\/steph-curry-sundance-film-festival-short-film-ben-proudfoot-1236486856\/\">was awarded the Sundance Film Festival\u2019s Short Film Grand Jury Prize<\/a>\u00a0last month, and seems likely to contend for the best documentary short Oscar a year from now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the film, which blends new interviews with archival footage and watercolor animation sequences hand-painted by Brazilian artist&nbsp;<strong>Daniel Bruson<\/strong>, Dr. Jones, who is now 95, reflects on his life on the front lines of America\u2019s Civil Rights Movement, and the personal toll experienced by himself and others as a result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Proudfoot, who is repped by UTA and served as a producer of the film through his company&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/breakwaterstudios.com\/about\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Breakwater Studios<\/a>, tells&nbsp;<em>THR<\/em>, \u201cThis is a man who not only witnessed but personally shaped the Civil Rights Movement from the inside.
