It\u2019s not everyday that the most-subscribed newspaper in the U.S. comes after you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The New York Times<\/em> \u2013 notorious for whitewashing<\/a> Israel\u2019s genocide in Gaza \u2013 published a profile piece on Darializa Avila Chevalier, one of three Mamdani-backed progressives who shocked the Democratic establishment when they won their NYC primaries<\/a> last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWho is Darializa Avila Chevalier?\u201d the headline asks. The piece features old social media posts from Chevalier that say things like \u201cFuck Kamala Harris\u201d \u2013 quotes that Times<\/em> chief White House correspondent Peter Baker amplified on Twitter:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mehdi<\/strong> responded to Baker\u2019s post, calling out the Times<\/em> for scrutinizing progressives while giving right-wingers a pass, even though GOP politicians routinely traffic in much more extreme<\/a> and racist<\/a> rhetoric:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The New York Times<\/em> PR team proceeded to tweet at Mehdi in response, implying that he was \u201cmisstating the facts\u201d<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, Mehdi responded \u2013 with receipts<\/a><\/em>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"\/<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

So, you can subscribe to the self-declared \u201cboth sides\u201d journalism of the mainstream New York Times<\/em>, where racists, Islamophobes, and literal Nazis get off easy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Or, you can support a new kind of media that\u2019s independent and unafraid \u2013 journalism that refuses to both-sides<\/em> genocide, fascism, and white supremacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
