Troy Jackson, the Democratic nominee for US Senate<\/a> in Maine<\/a>, delivered a video response on Sunday to mega-billionaire Elon Musk\u2019s plan to spend at least $100 million to aid Sen. Susan Collins<\/a> and other Republicans<\/a> in key races across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The New York Times<\/a> reported<\/a> that Musk, through his America PAC, intends to \u201cspend $100 million to $120 million on a new field program in at least eight states to help elect Republicans in November.\u201d The group, according to the Times, \u201cplans to initially target Senate races in at least five states\u2014Alaska, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, and Ohio\u2014and is having conversations about the contests in North Carolina, Georgia, and Texas<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cApparently Elon Musk<\/a> has gotten off Twitter<\/a> long enough to realize that he\u2019s got a real problem here in Maine,\u201d Jackson, the former president of Maine\u2019s Senate, said in a one-minute response to the report on America PAC\u2019s spending plans. \u201cThe problem is me and you, working to try and get a government that we should have, that we deserve.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe wants to have people that are totally beholden to him and [President]\u00a0Donald Trump<\/a>\u00a0making sure that we\u2019re getting\u00a0tax cuts<\/a>\u00a0for billionaires on the back of our\u00a0healthcare<\/a>\u00a0system, on the back of our hospitals,\u201d Jackson continued. \u201cThat\u2019s what\u00a0Elon Musk<\/a>\u00a0wants. He doesn\u2019t care about us. Really doesn\u2019t care about Susan. He cares about him. So I would say to you Elon: Maine and really the whole\u00a0United States<\/a>\u00a0doesn\u2019t want your dirty money in our politics. You don\u2019t get to buy the government that you want. This is about all of us coming together and fighting for the government that we deserve, and you\u2019re not in it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
