How do you feel about this?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ecp.yusercontent.com\/mail?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.schwartzreport.net%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2026%2F09%2Fimage-29-1024x683.png&amp;t=1789675276&amp;ymreqid=47232f74-3043-4f67-8f4a-4b3890a9375d&amp;sig=5uio3UqNyiSMBcYgpqlzMQ--~D\" alt=\"\" style=\"width:1024px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>A Trump concentration camp cage Credit: NBC<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">WASHINGTON, D.C. \u2014 Some immigrants detained at Florida\u2019s now-shuttered \u201cAlligator Alcatraz\u201d were confined in outdoor cages only slightly larger than telephone booths for more than an hour at a time, according to a new report by the Department of Homeland Security\u2019s inspector general.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The watchdog report marks the first time a government agency has confirmed the existence of the cramped cages at the South Florida Detention Facility.&nbsp;<a rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/us.list-manage.com\/hAymdsDH59H?e=d7eb7aa9f9&amp;c2id=20e8828e27d9b8401e86aa1f3271316d\">Amnesty International found in a report<\/a>&nbsp;published in December, based on interviews with detainees and a tour of the facility, that the cages were used to punish detainees and amounted to torture, sparking&nbsp;<a rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/us.list-manage.com\/_uGVtLw8rpZ?e=d7eb7aa9f9&amp;c2id=20e8828e27d9b8401e86aa1f3271316d\">a congressional probe<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The inspector general\u2019s findings don\u2019t go as far, but the report says \u201cthe use of such restrictive spaces is highly unconventional and does not align with standards for humane treatment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The DHS watchdog findings are a rare instance when a federal inspector general has publicly criticized the Trump administration.
